In the United States, Apple Pay now supports BitPay, allowing Bitcoin transactions to be carried out. Are we moving towards more global support for cryptocurrency on Apple Pay, Google Pay and even Samsung Pay?
Bitcoin has not finished talking about it. For several weeks, the most famous of virtual currencies has chained the records, until the attention of large companies like Tesla, which has invested no less than $ 1.5 billion in Bitcoin , which could perhaps give some ideas at Apple according to some analysts. Even more recently, Twitter boss Jack Dorsey and rapper and producer Jay-Z joined forces to create the BTrust fund, to “make Bitcoin the currency of the Internet” . It is therefore in the same vein that we learn that Apple Pay now supports payments in Bitcoin … at least, in the United States.
Apple Pay does not officially support cryptocurrency, but Apple’s payment service is now compatible with BitPay across the Atlantic, which therefore allows transactions to be carried out with virtual currency. BitPay also announced that this support is expected to expand to Android smartphones soon, with integration to Google Pay and Samsung Pay coming soon, by March. And that is without counting on the possible projects of the various manufacturers in this sector. According to analysts at RBC Capital Markets, Apple could decide to set up a cryptocurrency exchange platform in its Wallet application, which would allow – if it is well in Apple’s projects – to have access to its Bitcoin wallet natively on Apple devices, and to carry out transactions with its cryptocurrencies. For now, nothing is certain, but this BitPay initiative could well give ideas to the digital giants if its use were to become widespread.
