Walking is the easiest and most useful form of physical activity, which is available almost always and everywhere. But what if day after day you do not have time to go for a walk? We have several options for how to increase the number of steps taken.
Walk while talking
Phone call? Answer and get up: if during every phone call or even conference you walk (even from wall to wall in your office), you will walk a good distance during the day. And walking at even a very slow pace is still healthier than sitting.
Choose a parking spot
Driving to work? Try to park a few blocks from the office: firstly, this can make it easier to find free space, and, secondly, it will allow you to walk a thousand or two more steps every day.
Conduct planning meetings on walks
If you need to discuss something with your colleagues, do not invite them into the office – it is better to go for a walk. At least in the corridor: firstly, this way you walk more steps, and, secondly, increase your chances of finding the right solution to your work problem. By the way, even a short walk boosts our creativity by 60 percent!
Forget the elevator
Elevators, escalators and other moving objects? Forget about them, erase them from your reality. Only stairs, only steps!
Don’t eat lunch at your workplace
Never skip your lunch break or snack in the workplace. Firstly, it is bad for the figure: when we combine food and work, we tend to eat more than necessary. Secondly, it interferes with switching and as a result we get more tired and have less time. Finally, thirdly, if you go out for lunch every day, you can arrange yourself an extra walk.
